The Department of FISCal (FI$Cal) has changed its process for Acceptable Use Agreements (AUA). End users received email notice of the change on December 11, 2020.
Previously, FI$Cal required end users to annually submit an AUA form via email to acknowledge that they received and agreed to our AUA policy. The form helped us ensure that only authorized users had access to the FI$Cal system and their department’s sensitive data.
Under our new process, the AUA is now included as part of FI$Cal’s Privacy Policy that must be agreed to on the FI$Cal system login page before being allowed to access the system. Users are encouraged to familiarize themselves with our Privacy Policy prior to agreeing to it.
It is important to note that the AUA specifically cites that unauthorized access may be subject to penalties per the Comprehensive Computer Access and Fraud Act (CA Penal Code §502 Unauthorized Computer Access and Fraud Act). This act defines penalties for knowingly accessing the system and performing unauthorized activities. We encourage all users to review this act and familiarize themselves with the unauthorized actions. You can find the text of the act here: CA Penal Code Section §502.
