Two Department of FISCal staff received IT Leadership Awards at the February 26 California Public Sector CIO Academy conference in Sacramento.
The California Public Sector CIO Academy is sponsored by Government Technology for California’s senior-level technology executives to improve their management and business skills and to develop IT leaders of the future.
The IT Leadership Awards honor individuals who led effective teams, most faithfully served their organizations and constituencies, exhibited innovative thinking, and promoted information sharing and collaboration across California government.
The following FI$Cal staff received the IT Leadership Awards:
Hugo Mercado: Chief of Infrastructure Services Section, Information Technology Division
Over the last year, Hugo led several customer service and technology improvement initiatives that contributed to substantial improvements in FI$Cal’s availability, security and self-service capabilities. His leadership enabled his team to take over FI$Cal infrastructure operations. His vision and proactive leadership helped FI$Cal to implement complex technology upgrades and prepare the FI$Cal infrastructure to support statewide financial transactions. Hugo’s collaboration and leadership enabled FI$Cal to implement a cloud-based Customer Service Management solution to support statewide FI$Cal users.
Marlon Lewis: Chief of FI$CAL Service Center Level 2 Support Services Section, Service Center and Portfolio Management Division
Over the last year, Marlon championed the transition of Level 2 services to FI$Cal state staff and he played a significant role in the implementation of the Department’s Enterprise Intake Process. He is an outstanding IT leader who is always willing to go above and beyond to serve his customers. He brings forward innovative solutions to solve problems and communicates his ideas effectively. Marlon’s leadership enabled FI$Cal Service Center teams to perform their jobs with accuracy and precision as well as deliver outstanding customer service to FI$Cal users.
